CUNY Queens College Rathaus Hall 2nd Floor Renovation and Associated Asbestos Abatement

Scope of Work

The contract involves the renovation of approximately 14,000 square feet on the second floor of Rathaus Hall at Queens College. The work also encompasses associated tasks on the building's facade, rooftop, cellar, and first floors, all in support of the second-floor renovations. The renovation will: - Create new departmental spaces to enhance student learning and support a variety of post-graduate career paths in the arts. - Develop specialized classrooms to accommodate active, participatory, and lab-style learning environments. - Construct three new studio classrooms, which will expand course offerings and streamline the use of the theater as a drama classroom. - Install sprung flooring in the studio classrooms to support both dance and drama activities. - Add two lab-style classrooms (a design lab and a costume shop) to complement the existing sewing lab, focusing on set design and costume fabrication instruction. - Include a traditional front-facing classroom and a smaller conference/seminar/meeting room.

Background

There is no change in use, egress, or occupancy proposed for the building. The building is owned by New York State, is not located in a flood zone, and is not subject to local landmark preservation regulations. The building currently does not have a certificate of occupancy.
