Reuse of New Haven Green CT Transit Info Kiosk

Background

The City of New Haven’s Office of Economic Development has issued this Request for Proposals (RFP) to seek project proposals for the adaptive reuse and activation of the former CT Transit information booth located on the Chapel Street side of the New Haven Green. The City aims to transform this site into an active and welcoming asset that enhances pedestrian experience, supports transit riders, and contributes to the vibrancy and safety of the area. The City is particularly interested in uses that may include small-format retail, arts and cultural programming, tourism-oriented services, or community service providers.

Work Details

Respondents are expected to present a clear, feasible, and creative proposal that outlines how they will activate the site. Proposals should demonstrate operational feasibility, a clear business or programming model, and the ability to maintain an attractive presence at the site. Rental terms are negotiable, with flexible arrangements encouraged to support successful activation while ensuring long-term sustainability.

Period of Performance

The project is set to commence upon contract award with an initial term of one year. There are two optional one-year extension periods subject to approval.

Place of Performance

The work will be performed at the former CT Transit information booth located on the Chapel Street side of the New Haven Green between Church Street and Temple Street.

Bidder Requirements

Vendors must comply with various requirements including Equal Employment Opportunity provisions, a Non-Collusion Affidavit, adherence to local hiring preferences for New Haven residents, and compliance with the City’s Living Wage Ordinance if applicable. Vendors must also provide proof of insurance prior to contract award.
