Hedgefield Waterline Replacement Project

Background

The Hedgefield Waterline Replacement Project is initiated by the Wytheville Redevelopment & Housing Authority, located at 170 Hedgefield Lane, Wytheville, Virginia. The project aims to replace existing waterlines at the Hedgefield Terrace Apartments to ensure reliable water service and compliance with current standards. The contract documents and technical specifications have been prepared by Rinker Design Associates.

Work Details

The contractor will be responsible for the following services and products: 1. Mobilization costs including bonds, insurance, general permits, and establishment of an office (not exceeding 5% of total bid). 2. Erosion and Sediment Control Measures as required by plans or officials. 3. Installation of a 6” Water Line (PVC C-900 DR-14 or Ductile Iron Class 350 WP) - 2,500 L.F. 4. Installation of a 2” Water Line (PVC SDR-17 or HDPE DR-9) - 142 L.F. 5. Installation of various valves including: - 6” Tapping Valve & Sleeve - 2 EA. - 6” Gate Valve - 7 EA. - 2” Gate Valve - 1 EA. 6. Fire Hydrant Assembly - 6 EA. 7. Blowoff Valve Assembly - 1 EA. 8. Removal of existing structures including: - Gate Valve Box - 8 EA. - Fire Hydrant Assembly - 4 EA. 9. Cut/Cap/Plug existing water lines as needed. 10. Service line installations including: - Service Line Splitter Box - 28 EA. - Service Lines from Main to Splitter Box (1-1/2” PVC SDR-17 or HDPE DR-9) - 800 L.F. 11. Additional work includes asphalt pavement repair and concrete sidewalk/curb & gutter repair.

Period of Performance

The work is expected to be substantially completed within the timeframe specified in the Agreement, with a completion date set for June 2026.

Place of Performance

The project will take place at Hedgefield Terrace Apartments, located in Wytheville, Virginia.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must provide evidence of authority to do business in Virginia and possess a valid contractor's license number for the state where the project is located. Additionally, bidders are required to submit bid security amounting to at least 5% of their maximum bid price.
