Background

Carteret County Government is seeking competitive proposals from qualified contractors to provide preventive maintenance, inspections, testing, emergency repair, and related services for County-owned emergency standby generators. The goal of this contract is to ensure the operational readiness and reliability of the generators located throughout Beaufort, Morehead City, and Newport, North Carolina.

Work Details

The contractor will provide the following services for four (4) generators: 1. Quarterly Minor Inspections (4 visits annually per generator) including general inspections, electrical inspections, operational testing, and maintenance activities. 2. Annual Major Services (2 major service visits annually per generator) including engine service, fuel system service, electrical service, load testing, and comprehensive reporting. 3. Repair Services on an as-needed basis including emergency response and diagnostic troubleshooting. The specific generators covered include: - Newport, NC: Briggs & Stratton 150 kW - Morehead City, NC: Kohler 100 kW - Beaufort, NC: Kohler 250 kW - Beaufort, NC: Caterpillar 350 kW.

Period of Performance

The contract will commence on July 1, 2026 and will end on June 30, 2027. There is an option to renew for five (5) additional one-year terms at the discretion of Carteret County Government.

Place of Performance

The services will be performed at various locations in Beaufort, Morehead City, and Newport in North Carolina.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must comply with the North Carolina Workers’ Compensation Act and maintain minimum insurance coverage of $1 million per occurrence for bodily injury liability and $100,000 for property damage liability. Contractors must also submit a Certificate of Insurance reflecting these limits upon execution of the contract.
