Gymnasium Cooling Project

Background

The Pellston Public School District is seeking proposals for the Design Build HS Gymnasium Cooling Project. The goal of this project is to design, provide, and install new air conditioning systems in the High School Gymnasium to enhance the comfort of students and staff during warmer months. This initiative aligns with the district's commitment to providing a conducive learning environment.

Work Details

The contractor will be responsible for the following services: 1. Design an adequate number of rooftop units to supply conditioned air throughout the HS Gymnasium per Michigan Mechanical Codes. 2. Design ductwork necessary for effective air conditioning. 3. Check, design, and install structural supports for the new units on the existing roof structure. 4. Provide lifting equipment for proper installation of rooftop units. 5. Supply power to new units according to Michigan Electrical Codes. 6. Install and start up new AC units by a qualified mechanical contractor. 7. Install all supply and return air ductwork. 8. Install a new thermostat and control wiring as required. 9. Coordinate control operation with the existing heating system. 10. Provide training to district staff on operating the new system effectively. 11. Repair roofing/flashing as needed for installation and obtain warranty from roofing manufacturer post-completion. 12. Offer a two-year installation warranty on work performed.

Period of Performance

The contract work is expected to commence upon award and must be completed by June 30, 2026.

Place of Performance

The project will be performed at Pellston High School located at 172 Park Street, Pellston, MI 49769.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must be qualified Mechanical/Structural Engineers/HVAC contractors with relevant experience in similar projects. Proposals exceeding $50,000 must include a certified check or bid bond of at least 5% of the base proposal sum, proof of insurance including professional liability, workers compensation, general liability, and automobile insurance as specified in Attachment B.
