Yard Trim Acceptance, Processing, and Marketing Services

Background

Howard County, Maryland is seeking a qualified contractor to provide yard trim acceptance, processing, and marketing services. The goal of this contract is to manage yard trim materials in an environmentally responsible manner, ensuring that all materials delivered to the contractor's facility are biodegradable and comply with specified guidelines.

Work Details

The contractor will be responsible for the acceptance, processing, and marketing of yard trim materials. All materials must be delivered in biodegradable bags or loose without traditional plastic bags. The contractor must have experience in grinding, mulching, and composting yard trim and wood waste for at least two years. The contractor will also need to maintain a processing facility that meets specific operational standards, including having certified scales for weighing materials. They shall provide a marketing plan for the processed products and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Period of Performance

The contract will commence on or about April 1, 2027, for an initial term of one year with options for five additional one-year renewals at the discretion of Howard County.

Place of Performance

The services will be performed at the contractor's processing facility located within Howard County, Maryland.

Bidder Requirements

Contractors must have a minimum of two years' experience in processing yard trim and wood waste. They must provide proof of insurance coverage including: - Commercial General Liability Insurance with limits of $1 million per occurrence - Automobile Liability Insurance with limits of $1 million per accident - Workers' Compensation Insurance as required by Maryland law. Additionally, contractors must submit a copy of their lease or purchase agreement for the processing facility.
