Background

Iredell County Solid Waste is seeking qualified vendors to bid on the expansion of the Landfill Gas Collection & Control System (GCCS). The current system covers five phases of the active landfill and an old closed landfill. The expansion aims to meet New Source Performance Standards (NSPS) Subpart XXX, while ensuring that construction and hauling operations continue safely during business hours six days a week.

Work Details

The project includes the purchase of materials and installation of 18 vertical gas extraction wells across Phases 1 – 6, along with the extension of leachate cleanouts. These wells will connect to a 12-inch High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) header via smaller diameter HDPE pipes. In Phase 5, an additional 10 vertical landfill gas wells will be installed, along with gas transmission lines connecting these wells to an existing header. The project also involves abandonment and redrilling of nonproducing LFG wells across various active cells. Additionally, it includes installing risers and valves to existing transmission lines, air, and force mains.

Period of Performance

The contract will be performed from the date of award until completion, with bids due by June 30, 2026.
