Removal and Replacement of ADA Playground Equipment - Three Locations

Background

The School District of Greenville County is seeking sealed bids for the removal and replacement of ADA playground equipment at three locations: Ellen Woodside Elementary, Mountain View Elementary, and Stone Academy. This project aims to enhance accessibility and safety for students, aligning with the district's commitment to providing inclusive educational environments. The district serves approximately 78,000 students and has a mission to ensure quality education through well-maintained facilities.

Work Details

The project involves the complete removal of existing playground equipment and installation of new ADA-compliant playground structures at the following locations: - Ellen Woodside Elementary, 9122 Augusta Road, Pelzer, SC 29669 - Mountain View Elementary, 6350 Highway 253, Taylors, SC 29687 - Stone Academy, 115 Randall Street, Greenville, SC 29609. The contractor will provide all labor, materials, tools, equipment, supervision, and services necessary for the project. Specific tasks include: 1. Removal of existing play structures as indicated in provided site maps. 2. Installation of new ADA-compliant play structures and accessible paths around the playgrounds. 3. Delivery of equipment directly to the schools. 4. Adherence to all applicable safety standards including ADA guidelines. 5. A two-year warranty on all parts and services provided.

Period of Performance

The contract will commence upon award and must be completed by September 7, 2026. Work is expected to begin after issuance of the purchase order on June 22, 2026.

Place of Performance

Work will be performed at three school locations within Greenville County: Ellen Woodside Elementary in Pelzer, Mountain View Elementary in Taylors, and Stone Academy in Greenville.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must have a minimum of five years of experience in playground construction and repair. They must also hold current certifications from recognized bodies such as the National Playground Safety Institute (NPSI). Additionally, bidders are required to provide proof of liability insurance with specified coverage limits: - $500,000 per occurrence for bodily injury and property damage; - $1 million aggregate; - comprehensive automobile liability; - an umbrella policy of at least $1 million. All work must comply with local regulations and safety standards.
