Background

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Corrections, is seeking to procure the services of a full-time Dental Laboratory Technician Instructor for Pennsylvania Correctional Industries at SCI Cambridge Springs. The goal of this contract is to provide vocational training to incarcerated individuals, enhancing their skills and aiding in their rehabilitation and reintegration into society.

Work Details

The instructor will be responsible for delivering structured training in dental lab skills, including impressions, model fabrication, waxing, casting, finishing, and digital workflows. Key responsibilities include: - Developing lesson plans and training modules aligned with industry standards (NADL, ADA). - Demonstrating proper use of equipment and supervising participants during practice. - Inspecting work products for accuracy and ensuring compliance with commercial specifications. - Enforcing safety protocols and maintaining secure inventories. - Coordinating workflow and meeting production deadlines while documenting CI contracts. - Mentoring participants in employability skills and workplace ethics. The instructor must work on-site at SCI Cambridge Springs from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, excluding Commonwealth holidays.

Period of Performance

This contract is set for one year with the option for four additional one-year renewals. The effective date will be determined upon execution of the contract.

SCI Cambridge Springs (451 Fullerton Ave, Cambridge Springs, PA 16403).

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must have a minimum of 3–5 years of experience as a Dental Laboratory Technician, knowledge of dental materials and fabrication processes, strong communication skills, and the ability to work within a correctional environment. A Certified Dental Technician (CDT) credential is preferred. Bidders must comply with all applicable Commonwealth laws and DOC policies. Background checks are mandatory for all personnel deployed to secure facilities.
