Work Details The contractor will be responsible for comprehensive management of solid waste and recycling programs at the VAMC ME Healthcare System. This includes: 1. Collection, recycling, and disposal of various types of waste including solid waste, single stream recycling (cardboard, mixed paper, plastic, glass, aluminum), scrap metal, scrap wood, pallets, construction & demolition debris, and organic waste. 2. Development and submission of a Recycling Plan aimed at achieving a 55% recycling rate. 3. Conducting waste audits and providing tracking reports within 20 calendar days after each month. 4. Providing compactors or dumpsters for waste collection as per the proposed schedule. 5. Monthly meetings with VA personnel to discuss performance and updates on the recycling plan. 6. Timely removal of mattresses upon notification by the Contracting Officer Representative (COR). 7. Ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations during disposal processes. Period of Performance The contract will have a base period from August 1, 2026, to January 31, 2027, followed by four one-year option periods extending through January 31, 2031. Place of Performance The contract will be performed at the VA Maine Healthcare System located in Augusta, Maine. Bidder Requirements Bidders must demonstrate relevant experience in managing solid waste and recycling programs within healthcare settings.
