Work Details The contractor will provide transportation services for deceased patients from designated morgue locations at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System to UPMC or the Allegheny County Coroner’s Office. Key requirements include: - Pickup locations: University Drive Campus and Heinz Campus. - Transportation must comply with 49 Pa. Code § 13.213, using approved stretchers or containers for human remains, ensuring bodies are covered and transported face up. - The vendor must arrive within 60 minutes of notification from the VA and anticipate a total wait time of 30 minutes during pickup and delivery, with additional charges applicable for extended wait times. - Each transport includes documentation such as two copies of the death certificate and a US flag accompanying the deceased. - Travel distances are approximately 1 mile to UPMC, 3 miles to the Coroner’s Office from University Drive, and 11 miles or 8 miles from Heinz Campus depending on the destination.
