The City of Albany Engineering Department is soliciting a consultant firm to provide arborist services within the City. The goal is to assist the city in performing activities related to its tree ordinance, ensuring tree health, structural integrity, and public safety. The selected firm will have an on-staff arborist certified by the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA). The City anticipates using a Cost Per Unit of Work contract.
The scope of work includes: - Performing field inspections of trees identified by the City as potential nuisances or safety risks using accepted arboricultural standards. - Inspections will include evaluation of tree health, structural integrity, and risk to public safety and infrastructure. - Documentation of evaluations with photographs and concise summaries of findings. - Recommendations regarding pruning, monitoring, or removal of inspected trees with supporting justification suitable for the City’s records and public communication. - Evaluation of public trees damaged or removed without permits and providing a monetary value for settling insurance claims. - Additional services may include reviewing construction plans for compliance with City ordinances, evaluating species selection for sustainability, assisting with 'Tree City USA' certification, informing about grants, and attending City Commission and Tree Board meetings for technical support. All work must meet Local, State, and Federal requirements and adhere to International Society of Arboriculture standards.
The contract will be performed from the date of award until July 13, 2026.
