Modernize Lighting Des Moines Air Base

Background

The Iowa Department of Public Defense (DPD) is seeking professional services for a lighting modernization project at the Des Moines Air Base, specifically for Building 101. The goal of this contract is to upgrade the lighting systems to improve energy efficiency, reduce maintenance costs, and enhance overall lighting quality while maintaining user-friendliness.

Work Details

The project involves the complete removal of existing 2'x4' ceiling grids and tiles, followed by the installation of new 2'x2' ceiling grids and tiles. Non-LED lighting fixtures will be replaced with new 2'x2' LED flat panels as specified in the attached lighting specifications. Retrofit work will be required for other light fixtures including can lights, storage area hung lighting, and fixed wall-mounted fixtures to meet specified lumen requirements and a color temperature of 4000K neutral white. The installation will also include energy-efficient LED fixtures for exterior wall packs, entry lights, flagpoles, and display lights. Additionally, lighting controls such as occupancy sensors, dimmer switches, and photocell devices will be incorporated to maximize energy savings. A site assessment may be conducted to verify existing fixture counts and configurations. The contractor must ensure proper disposal of all removed fixtures in compliance with regulations and repair any damage caused during installation. A final commissioning report detailing system functionality will be provided to the Owner.

Period of Performance

The contract performance period is expected to commence upon award and continue until project completion.

Place of Performance

The work will be performed at Building 101 located at 3100 McKinley Ave, Des Moines, IA 50321.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must participate in a mandatory site visit on June 24th at 9:30 am at Building 101. RSVPs are required by June 17th for security clearance. Bidders must comply with local building codes and energy efficiency standards and adhere to Buy America, Build America ACT requirements.
