Background The National Museum of the United States Marine Corps (NMMC) is seeking to enhance and preserve its exhibits through a contract for museum exhibit preservation and fabrication services. The goal of this contract is to ensure that all 19 galleries within the museum maintain high standards of exhibit conservation, realism, and optimization, thereby improving visitor engagement and experience. Work Details The contractor will provide a range of services including: exhibit conservation, realism optimization, fabrication, and on-site installation services. Specific tasks include repairing damaged exhibits, replacing exhibit elements that do not meet original design intentions or hinder visitor traffic flow. The work encompasses various elements such as graphics, artifact cases, artifact mounts, realistic scenery, interactive kiosks, paint, minor drywall repair, media systems, AV systems, and carpet. Expected tasks may involve creating drawings, display structures, specialty fabrication for themed displays, graphics production, exhibit floor coverings installation, custom artifact cases construction, micro artifact mounts creation, and other exhibit properties. Place of Performance The services will be performed at the National Museum of the United States Marine Corps. Incumbent Analysis (see Incumbents section for more detail) This opportunity appears to have a confirmed incumbent based on prior contract M0026421C0008 awarded to Explus for $7,306,628 (04/20/21–12/20/25), which provided exhibit fabrication services for the National Museum of the Marine Corps. The prior work description and the current scope both focus on fabricating and supporting NMMC exhibits, including repairs/replacement of exhibit elements and related gallery components such as cases, mounts, scenery, graphics, and installation. The follow-on nature suggests continuity of ongoing exhibit preservation and fabrication needs across the museum’s galleries.
