Campus-Wide Window Washing Services

Background

The University of Iowa, located in Iowa City, Iowa, is a prominent public university known for its academic excellence and research leadership. The university seeks to engage qualified suppliers to provide comprehensive window washing services across its campus, including hospitals and clinics. The goal of this contract is to ensure that all windows are maintained in a clean and presentable condition, enhancing the overall appearance and functionality of the university's facilities.

Work Details

The supplier will be responsible for washing all exterior windows on the University of Iowa campus, including hospitals and clinics. Specific tasks include: 1. Cleaning all windows thoroughly to remove soils, decals, dust, tar, stains, gum, waterproofing compounds, paint, and other substances. 2. Ensuring that outside sills on all windows are cleaned and left free from debris. 3. Utilizing appropriate rigging methods that do not damage building structures or equipment; where necessary, using certified rooftop anchors or portable railings. 4. Providing protection to roofs and window areas during cleaning operations to prevent damage. 5. Complying with OSHA standards for safety during all operations. 6. Scheduling work at mutually agreed times with the university department and providing written notice at least two weeks prior to starting work.

Period of Performance

The contract will commence upon award in August 2026 and will last for one year with the possibility of four additional one-year extensions based on mutual agreement.

Place of Performance

Services will be performed at various locations across the University of Iowa campus in Iowa City. This includes specific buildings such as Burge Hall, Daum Hall, Currier Hall, Stanley Hall, Mayflower Hall, Parklawn, Hillcrest, Petersen Hall, Rienow Hall, Slater Hall, Catlett Hall as well as multiple hospital facilities.

Bidder Requirements

Suppliers must be licensed to operate in the State of Iowa and comply with Chapter 490 of the Iowa Code. Additionally, suppliers must provide audited financial statements from the previous two years as part of their proposal submission.
