Background

Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) is seeking bids for fully integrated multiplex PCR platforms to enhance its biomedical research infrastructure. The goal of this contract is to acquire instruments that will support rapid syndromic testing of infectious diseases in both research and public health laboratory settings. The funding for this acquisition is contingent upon receiving a grant from the National Institutes for Health via the Instrumentation Grant Program for Resource-Limited Institutions.

Work Details

EKU is looking for a multiplex PCR system that can run at least four samples simultaneously and test for 40 or more targets, including at least 20 bacterial species, five yeast types, and 10 antibiotic resistance genes from blood cultures within one hour. The preferred platform should have automated processes to reduce sample processing time and provide scientifically defensible molecular-based microbial identifications. The specific products sought include: 1. A multiplex PCR system capable of simultaneous testing for bacteria, viruses, yeast, parasites, and antimicrobial resistant microorganisms. 2. BIOFIRE® FilmAray® TORCH SYSTEM – TORCH 4 or larger or an equivalent approved by the university. 3. An annual maintenance service agreement with pricing per year.

Period of Performance

The earliest possible purchase date for the items would be April 15, 2027, contingent upon grant success and NIH processes. Bid pricing must remain valid for at least one year after the bid due date.

Place of Performance

The contract will be performed at Eastern Kentucky University.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must be registered in EKU's eProcurement system to participate in the solicitation event. Any alternative products proposed must be approved by EKU. Bidders are required to submit full details and specifications under the 'Supplier Attachments' section of the bid.
