Background

The School District of Greenville County (SDGC), the largest school district in South Carolina, is seeking proposals for an Excess Workers Compensation Insurance Program. The district serves over 77,000 students and employs approximately 12,000 staff members across more than 100 schools and facilities. The goal of this contract is to provide comprehensive excess workers' compensation coverage to protect the district against potential liabilities arising from employee injuries.

Work Details

The contractor will provide Excess Workers Compensation Insurance effective July 1, 2026, with the option to renew for four consecutive one-year terms. The coverage must include: - Statutory Workers Compensation and Employers Liability with limits of $1,000,000 for each accident, $1,000,000 for disease per employee, and $1,000,000 for disease policy limit. - A self-insured retention of $650,000 per accident. - Coverage for volunteers who are not subject to Workers Compensation Law or Occupational Disease Law. Claims administration will be managed by a Third-Party Administrator (TPA), currently PMA Management Corp., which will handle reporting and management of claims according to the insurer's guidelines. Proposals must include details on insurer financial ratings (A.M. Best rating), policy forms, endorsements, and agent/broker compensation.

Period of Performance

The contract period will commence on July 1, 2026, and will last for one year with options to renew annually for up to four additional years based on mutual agreement.
