7th Avenue at Cedar River Water Main Improvements

Background

The City of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is issuing a contract for the 7th Avenue at Cedar River Water Main Improvements project. The goal of this contract is to install a new 16-inch ductile iron water main across the Cedar River to replace the existing water main at the 8th Avenue Bridge Cedar River Crossing. This project is part of the city's efforts to enhance its water infrastructure and ensure reliable service to its residents. The estimated cost for this project is $2,560,000.

Work Details

The work includes: - Installation of a 16-inch ductile iron water main by open cut installation at 7th Avenue. - Replacement of the existing 16-inch ductile iron water main at the 8th Avenue Bridge Cedar River Crossing. - Specific tasks include construction, disinfection, hydrostatic testing, and connection of the new water main from Station 100+00 to Station 110+10.62. - Restoration of riverbed to pre-construction elevations and removal and disposal of causeway fill and excess native material from the project site in advance of the Eighth Avenue Bridge Project.

Period of Performance

The contract will commence upon receipt of Notice to Proceed and is expected to be completed by April 30, 2027. Milestone 1 must be completed by January 15, 2027.

Place of Performance

The work will be performed at 7th Avenue from Valor Way SW across Cedar River to 1st St SE in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must provide bid security as defined in Iowa Code Section 26.8, which includes a cashier's check or certified check for five percent (5%) of the bid amount or a bid bond executed by a corporation authorized to act as surety in Iowa. Bidders must also complete and submit a Bidder Status Form indicating their authorization to transact business in Iowa.
