Project Manager: Sensory Performance and Touring Production

Background

The State Foundation on Culture and the Arts (SFCA) is seeking an organization to serve as Project Manager for the development and implementation of an Immersive Installation at Capitol Modern. This project aims to support sensory-based performances designed for neurodivergent youth, including those on the autism spectrum. The initiative will begin with a touring performance created for preschool-aged children, which will then be adapted into a multisensory experience tailored to neurodiverse young people. The selected Project Manager will oversee the planning, development, and implementation of both the installation and associated performance experiences.

Work Details

The contractor will be responsible for: 1. Co-designing the immersive space; 2. Assisting in developing the production; 3. Managing the touring portion of the performance; 4. Leading scheduling coordination with the team; 5. Developing a soundscape/audio experience for the museum space; 6. Co-developing a Social Story for audience goers attending performances in the museum.

Period of Performance

The contract is set to begin on July 20, 2026, and will end on July 19, 2027. It may be extended upon mutual agreement for up to six additional 12-month periods.

Place of Performance

The contract will be performed at Capitol Modern, located in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Bidder Requirements

Offerors must be based in Hawaii and have at least two years of experience with similar projects. They should have a background in theater for young audiences and developing performances for neurodivergent young audiences. Compliance with HRS103D-310(c) is required, which can be demonstrated through Hawaii Compliance Express.
