Pool Municipal Public Defenders

Background

The Township of Toms River is seeking qualifications from vendors to provide part-time Municipal Public Defender services. The goal of this contract is to ensure adequate legal representation for defendants in municipal court proceedings, aligning with the mission of the Township to uphold justice and provide necessary legal support.

Work Details

The Township may award up to three (3) Municipal Public Defenders. Each court session will utilize two (2) of the awarded firms. The established rate for a conflict public defender is $350.00 per court session, not to exceed $50,000 annually per Public Defender. Bills must be submitted monthly to the Court Administrator. The contract will commence upon award for a period of twelve (12) consecutive months.

Period of Performance

The contract period is twelve (12) consecutive months starting from the date of award.

Place of Performance

Services will be performed at the Township of Toms River Municipal Court located at 33 Washington Street, Toms River, NJ 08753.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must comply with New Jersey's affirmative action regulations and submit required documentation including a Non-Collusion Affidavit, Statement of Ownership Disclosure, and proof of insurance naming the Township as an additional insured. Bidders are also required to have a Business Registration Certificate prior to contract award.
