Summary: Background The Department of Veterans Affairs is issuing this contract for the Northport VA Medical Center, located at 79 Middleville Road, Northport, NY. The mission of the VA is to provide high-quality healthcare to veterans. This specific contract aims to conduct a duct bank survey facility-wide as part of the future project to replace primary electrical distribution systems on campus. The survey will assess existing electrical infrastructure and identify spare conduits for future use. Work Details The Contractor shall provide all necessary resources to conduct a comprehensive survey of 20 specified electrical manholes (P7, P8, P9, P9A, P9B, P9F, P10, P11, P12, P13, P14, P15, P16, P17, P18, P18A, P19, P20, P20A, and P20B) and potentially five additional manholes based on field conditions. The investigation will include visual inspections of electrical feeders and HV splices; documentation of feeder sizes and types; identification of spare conduits; verification of cable bends; inspection for physical damage; infrared scanning of splices; and assessment for deterioration in manholes. The contractor must be prepared to dewater manholes as needed and ensure compliance with confined space regulations. A final report with photographs and condition assessments must be provided within 30 days post-investigation. Period of Performance The work is to be completed within 8 weeks from the Notice To Proceed (NTP). Place of Performance Northport Veterans Affairs Medical Center, 79 Middleville Road, Northport, NY 11768. Bidder Requirements Contractors must have valid confined space certifications and appropriate training in NFPA 70E and OSHA standards (30-hour and 10-hour). They are required to provide a list of personnel participating in the work along with necessary identification documentation. Contractors must also comply with safety requirements outlined in specifications 01 35 26.
