Background

The City of Tempe is issuing this Request for Proposals (RFP) to establish a contract with a qualified firm to provide professional trail maintenance and rehabilitation services. The goal is to ensure the safety, sustainability, and accessibility of all City trails, aligning with the City’s Council Strategic Priority to enhance the quality of life for all Tempe residents and workers.

Work Details

The services required include: 1. Trail Assessment and Planning - Develop an assessment to evaluate City trails for deficiencies related to safety, sustainability, and accessibility. Provide a detailed plan identifying required remediations and recommendations. 2. General Trail Maintenance - Services include clearing and trimming vegetation, removing litter and debris, maintaining and repairing trail tread, addressing erosion, cleaning and repairing trail structures, identifying hazards, and maintaining drainage. 3. Additional Services -

Trail Closure and Revegetation

Identify and close non-designated trails using methods like ripping and scarifying; apply native seed for regrowth.

Signage Installation

Install or relocate signage posts as directed by the City. - Repair/Installation: Provide repair services for trail improvement projects as directed.

Period of Performance

The contract will commence on the date of award and shall continue for a period of one year thereafter, with options for unilateral extensions up to four additional years.

Place of Performance

Services will be performed within the City of Tempe, Arizona.

Bidder Requirements

Contractor must obtain Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Cultural Sensitivity Training certification within 30 days of contract award. The Contractor must also implement robust safety protocols during all phases of the project.
