Instrumented Staircase with Handrails

Background

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is seeking bids for the purchase and delivery of one (1) Instrumented Bertec Staircase with Handrails or an approved equivalent. This equipment is essential for research projects that require biomechanical measurement during stair climbing and descent. It specifically measures ground reaction forces through the stairs and hand forces applied to handrails during gait analysis.

Work Details

The contract involves providing one (1) Instrumented Bertec Staircase with Handrails, which must meet the following specifications: - Four-level staircase with three instrumented steps and one non-instrumented landing. - Each instrumented step must be 3 ft wide × 1 ft deep, and the landing surface must be a minimum of 3 ft wide × 2 ft deep. - Two instrumented handrails are required. - The staircase must include a 6-component force measurement from each plate (Fx, Fy, Fz, Mx, My, Mz) with a load capacity of 2000N (10,000 lb) per step. - Portable force plates (FP3192-06-PT-2000) that can be detached for standalone use are required. Each handrail must have a 3-component force output (Fx, Fy, Fz) with two load cells per handrail. - The staircase should be mounted on wheels for portability. The stated name, make, and model are provided to describe the desired quality and performance standards but do not restrict competition.

Period of Performance

This is a one-time purchase with all items to be delivered within sixty (60) days after receipt of the purchase order.

Deliveries shall be made to Kathleen Mindick at College of Health Professions Building D, 74 President Street, MSC 700, Room D502, Charleston, SC 29425.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must have a state vendor number to submit an offer. They are also required to comply with all applicable provisions of laws and regulations during the term of the contract.
