Background

The City of Hammond is seeking qualified contractors to provide building demolition services for a site located at 1307 N Harvey St., Hammond, Louisiana. The goal of this contract is to ensure the safe and compliant removal of improvements and clean-up of the specified site in accordance with local laws and regulations.

Work Details

The contractor will be responsible for the following tasks: 1. Demolition and removal of all buildings and structures, including accessory buildings, along with all trash and debris in or around the structures. 2. Proper disconnection of utilities (electric and water) before demolition begins. 3. Sealing of all sewers and laterals at the property line with concrete. 4. Backfilling excavated areas with suitable material and grading the area for positive surface drainage. 5. Installation of erosion control measures to retain silt and soil during construction activities. 6. Removal of trees, trash, and debris, ensuring that living trees with a trunk diameter of six inches or larger are retained unless otherwise directed by the Building Department Director.

Period of Performance

The work must be completed within ten (10) calendar days from the date of execution of the Notice to Proceed, excluding legal holidays, Sundays, and rain days.

Bidder Requirements

The successful contractor must possess a valid business license throughout the term of the contract. Additionally, contractors are encouraged to be Section 3 businesses, Woman Business Enterprises (WBE), Minority Business Enterprises (MBE), Small Business Enterprises (SBE), or Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE). Proposers must comply with Title VI and VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 as amended, among other nondiscrimination requirements.
