The Boston Fish Pier, a historic site in South Boston, is being transformed into a flexible research and development workspace dedicated to blue economy innovators. Massport seeks qualified entities to manage and operate this facility as a blue economy incubator.

Work Details

The selected Operator will be responsible for the fit-out, management, operation, and programming of the Marine Innovation Facility at Boston Fish Pier. Key responsibilities include: - Providing flexible workspace for marine technology researchers and startups. - Enabling waterfront access for vessels and equipment for in-water experimentation. - Supporting testing, prototyping, and small-scale fabrication of marine technologies. - Organizing events and gatherings related to the blue economy. - Ensuring day-to-day operations align with Massport's Blue Edge initiative goals. The facility will consist of approximately 6,250 square feet of space with features such as a floating dock for direct harbor access, modernized interior design incorporating industrial materials, and infrastructure for various operational uses.

Period of Performance

The capital improvements by Massport are expected to be completed by late 2027 or early 2028. The Operator will be responsible for additional fit-out elements at their own expense.

Place of Performance

The contract will be performed at the Marine Innovation Facility located at 212 Northern Avenue, South Boston.

Bidder Requirements

Respondents must demonstrate experience in managing shared-use facilities focused on marine technology activities.
