BLUE MOUNTAIN MASTICATION (2026)
Background The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), specifically the N.W. Colorado Fire Management, is seeking a contractor to perform mastication of standing dead and live pinyon and juniper trees. This initiative is part of their mission to manage natural resources effectively and mitigate fire risks in the area. The project is located approximately 45 miles northwest of Meeker, Colorado, in Moffat County. Work Details The contractor will be responsible for the mastication of standing dead and live pinyon and juniper trees using a contractor-furnished machine such as Hydro-Ax, Fecon Bull Hog, or an equivalent. The specific work area includes T5N, Range 100W, Sections 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, 14, 15, 18, 19, 20 and Sections 24, 25, 26, and 35. The total area to be treated is approximately 30.5 acres. The contractor must adhere to the attached Performance Work Statement (PWS) and all supporting documentation. Period of Performance The contract will be performed from July 16, 2026 to March 14, 2027. Place of Performance The work will take place in Moffat County, Colorado. Bidder Requirements This solicitation is set aside for small businesses. Bidders must provide their Unique Entity ID (UEI) and CAGE code with their quote. Contractors are encouraged to visit the site prior to bidding; however, a formal pre-award site visit is not scheduled. Incumbent Analysis (see Incumbents section for more detail) The solicitation for “BLUE MOUNTAIN MASTICATION (2026)” shows a confirmed prior contract, 140L3724P0031, awarded to Vegetation Management Services with a value of $2,543 for work performed from 04/15/24 to 09/30/25. The prior award is described as “BLUE MOUNTAIN MASTICATION,” and the current requirement similarly calls for mastication of standing dead and live pinyon and juniper in the same general Blue Mountain area, suggesting the 2026 effort may be a continuation or follow-on treatment.
