Snow Removal 2026-2027

Background

The City of Columbus, Department of Public Service, is seeking independent contractors for snow and ice control services to supplement City crews during inclement weather. The goal is to ensure effective snow removal from residential streets, which generally have lower traffic volumes and speed limits of 25 miles-per-hour. The contract period is set from December 1, 2026, through April 30, 2027.

Work Details

Contractors will provide snow plowing, snow excavation/removal, and/or salt/sand application services on an on-call basis. They must supply their own equipment and are expected to maintain professionalism while interacting with City staff and the public. Services include: - Plowing designated local streets to ensure passable roadways for vehicular travel. - Deicing services using materials provided by the City. - Compliance with specific instructions regarding plowing width based on storm events. - Operators must be trained and capable of using the provided app for tracking work progress.

Bidder Requirements

Contractors must be independent entities with necessary experience and expertise. They are required to comply with all applicable laws including Workers’ Compensation laws in Ohio. Additionally, they must hold a valid contract compliance certification number with the City before execution of the contract.
