Background

The University of Kentucky HealthCare is expanding its Patient Care Facility, which involves the construction of a 2.08 million square foot, 895 bed facility aimed at accommodating additional inpatient beds and clinical support services. The project is managed by Walsh Turner JV, who is soliciting proposals for the Core & Shell MEP Packages under UK Project #2615.0.

Work Details

The contract includes the following services: 1) Preconstruction Assistance Services for Core & Shell Plumbing, Med Gas, and HVAC (Package #023.01), and Core & Shell Electrical (Package #026.02). Specific tasks include BIM implementation planning, design and constructability reviews, budget development, detailed cost estimates, schedule development, site logistics planning, and commissioning criteria. The subcontractor will also be responsible for construction phase services including installation, quality assurance/control (QA/QC), safety administration, and closeout documentation such as Operation & Maintenance Manuals and as-built BIM models.

Period of Performance

The project construction duration is estimated to be from May 1, 2027 to May 1, 2031. Proposals are due by July 24, 2026.

The work will be performed at the University of Kentucky HealthCare facility located at S. Limestone Street, Lexington, Kentucky.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must submit a Notice of Intent to Bid to gain access to the SmartBid system. Proposals must include evidence of insurance that meets specified limits and a completed Subcontractor Bidder Information Form. A safety record with an EMR of 1.0 or less is required.
