WIC 45-hour Lactation Education Course

Background

The Utah WIC Program, part of the Department of Health and Human Services, aims to enhance breastfeeding support for mothers enrolled in the WIC program. This solicitation seeks to provide WIC staff with a self-paced online 45-hour Advanced Lactation course to improve their skills and enable them to sit for the International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) exam. This initiative is crucial as breastfeeding is a key service pillar within WIC, and obtaining the highest breastfeeding credential possible is imperative for staff development.

Work Details

The contract involves providing a 45-hour Advanced Lactation course structured as follows: 40 hours of online class time and 5 hours of self-directed training. The course will be available to up to 45 participants across 13 local WIC agencies in Utah. The training aims to enhance critical thinking skills among WIC staff, enabling them to better support families facing common breastfeeding challenges. Successful completion of this course will allow staff to improve breastfeeding initiation and duration rates statewide.

Period of Performance

The contract will be performed over a period of five years.

Place of Performance

The services will be provided online, accessible to participants from various locations across Utah.

Bidder Requirements

Vendors must certify that they have read and agree to all provisions outlined in the solicitation document. They are required to comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, including licensure and certification requirements. Vendors must also ensure that they are not currently engaged in an economic boycott or a boycott of the State of Israel as defined by UCA 63G-27-102.
