Overlay Project 2026

Background

The Overlay Project 2026 is initiated by the City of American Fork, aiming to enhance the infrastructure within its jurisdiction. The project involves significant roadway improvements, including the construction of asphalt overlays and related utilities adjustments. The City is committed to maintaining and improving its roadways to ensure safety and accessibility for all residents.

Work Details

The work includes the construction of approximately 185,000 square feet of 2-inch overlays of new asphalt on several roadways. Specific tasks include utility adjustments, installation of new concrete collars for utility structures, installation of curb and gutter, installation of storm drain utilities, reconstructing ADA ramps, and striping. The locations for this work are Kawakami Drive between Main Street and 130 North, 1100 North between County Boulevard and 1650 West, and 860 East between State Street and 400 South. Detailed bid items include: - Public Outreach (1 LS) - Mobilization (1 LS) - Traffic Control (1 LS) - Remove Asphalt Pavement (900 SF) - Remove Curb and Gutter (150 LF) - Install Curb and Gutter (300 LF) - Install Drive Approach (70 SF) - Directional ADA Ramp Rebuild (8 EA) - Full-Width Mill (185,000 SF) - Overlay (185,000 SF) - Soft Spot Repairs (10,000 SF) - Pavement Markings and Road Signs (1 LS) - Landscape Gravel (1 LS) Various utility adjustments including raising manhole frames and water valves.

Period of Performance

The contract is expected to commence upon issuance of the Notice to Proceed and is scheduled for substantial completion by October 15, 2026.

Place of Performance

The work will be performed in American Fork, Utah specifically on Kawakami Drive, 1100 North, and 860 East.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must possess a valid contractor's license in Utah applicable to the type of work being bid. Additionally, bidders are required to provide a Certificate of Insurance with specified coverage limits: General Liability ($2 million per occurrence), Automobile Liability ($2 million per accident), Workers' Compensation as required by Utah law. Bidders must also submit a performance bond and payment bond each in the amount of 100% of the contract price.
