Background

The Town of Ware, Massachusetts is issuing an invitation for bids for demolition services at the properties located at 92-104 Main Street. The goal of this contract is to complete the demolition of two condemned structures and remove all debris, restoring the site to a smooth surface condition. Work Details

The contractor will be responsible for the complete demolition of two structures: a two-story mixed-use building with a basement at 92 Main Street (Parcel ID 61-3-1) and another similar structure at 104 Main Street (Parcel ID 61-0-3). The scope of work includes: 1) Notification to Dig Safe. 2) Verification of disconnection of all services. 3) Disconnection, cutting, and capping off existing utility services as directed by the Town. 4) Obtaining a Building Permit for demolition with all requirements; fees will be waived. 5) Removal of hazardous materials as indicated in the Pre-Demolition Hazardous Building Materials Survey Report dated 04/29/2026. 6) Installation of protective fencing during the project. 7) Demolition and removal of all debris to approved facilities, considering all materials as 'hot'. 8) Removal of concrete and foundation from both properties. 9) Filling and grading the site with clean fill, providing slant grading for drainage. 10) Stabilizing disturbed areas with seed mixtures or other acceptable methods. 11) Providing water for dust control using a Town hydrant without fees upon installation of a meter. 12) Coordination with the Town regarding use of adjacent lots for staging during demolition. 13) Ensuring sidewalks are left in safe condition post-demolition.

All work must be completed by August 31, 2026.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must comply with Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Labor and Industries Prevailing Wage Rates as per Mass General Laws Chapter 149, Sections 26 and 270. Contractors must be prequalified and certified by the Massachusetts Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance (DCAMM). They must provide proof of Workers' Compensation Insurance, Auto Liability Insurance, and Contractor's Liability Insurance in a minimum amount of $1,000,000. A Bid Bond equal to 5% of the bid amount is required upon submission.
