Museum Display Cases

Summary (Newest Update)

Background This solicitation is issued by the U.S. Army for the fabrication and installation of museum display cases at the US Army Aviation Training Support Facility, Fort Rucker, AL. The goal of this contract is to provide high-security display cases that meet specific design and functional requirements for displaying artifacts in a museum setting. This acquisition is a Total Small Business Set-Aside, encouraging small businesses to participate in the bidding process. Work Details The contract includes several items to be fabricated and installed: 1. **Fabrication of Display Cases (4 each)**: High-security display cases with heavy steel construction, EN 356 P4A rated security glass, and specific dimensions (84” height x 60” width x 30” depth). Each case must include features such as solid steel panels, laminated security glass, an LED lighting system designed for serviceability, and integrated floor levelers. 2. **Secondary Security Tethers with Padlocks (3 each)**: Tethers designed to secure weapons without allowing movement beyond 6 inches from their mounts. 3. **Mount-making Design and Fabrication (20 artifacts)**: Custom mounts for various artifacts that comply with museum conservation standards. 4. **Museum-Grade Display Trays (14 each)**: Trays capable of supporting up to 50 pounds without warping, available in specified sizes. 5. **Craftsmanship and Electrical Warranties**: Minimum five-year warranty on craftsmanship and one-year warranty on electrical work. 6. **Installation & Two-Stage Acceptance**: On-site installation requiring professional personnel, including a mechanical completion inspection and a 72-hour electronic burn-in period for lighting systems. Period of Performance The period of performance must not exceed 150 days from the start date coordinated with the customer. Place of Performance US Army Aviation Training Support Facility, Fort Rucker, AL. Bidder Requirements Bidders must be small businesses as this is a Total Small Business Set-Aside. They must provide new equipment only; used or remanufactured products will not be accepted. Bidders must also ensure compliance with installation security policies and have personnel who can pass background checks for access to Fort Rucker. Incumbent Analysis (see Incumbents section for more detail) The prior awards W911S223P1489 and W911S223P1669 were both awarded to Proto Productions (values of $216,277 and $170,000, respectively) for museum display cases, including fabrication and delivery of display case systems. The current requirement for high-security museum display cases with security glass, integrated lighting, and custom mounts/trays appears to be a continuation of the same type of work (museum artifact display case fabrication and related components) under the Army’s UNISON buys.
