UDOT Sole Source Procurement Notice

Background

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is issuing a Notice of Intent to Award a Contract without engaging in a standard procurement process. Work Details

The contract involves the purchase of an integrated avalanche and people detection radar, camera, and associated hardware from GeoPrevent AG. UDOT has been testing and leasing this radar since January 2024 and seeks to purchase the existing unit. The radar provides continuous monitoring and alerting of avalanches while ensuring safety by detecting people in avalanche-prone areas before mitigation efforts are undertaken. The estimated value of the contract is $40,320.

Period of Performance

The term of the contract will be five years with two renewal options.

Place of Performance

The contract will be performed in the Mount Superior area of Little Cottonwood Canyon, Utah.

Bidder Requirements

This procurement is classified as a sole source due to the unique capabilities of the radar system provided by GeoPrevent AG. No other vendors can provide a comparable product that meets UDOT's specific requirements for avalanche detection technology.
