DOC Anamosa Taut Wire Intrusion Detection System Repairs

Background

The Iowa Department of Administrative Services (DAS) is seeking proposals from qualified design companies to provide professional design services for repairs or replacement of the existing Taut Wire Intrusion Detection System at Anamosa State Penitentiary. This initiative aims to enhance the security infrastructure as identified in a site survey conducted by Safeguard Technologies.

Work Details

The scope of work includes: 1. Creation of construction drawings and specifications for upgrades to the Taut Wire Intrusion Detection System. 2. Coordination with the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) for design approvals. 3. Field examination of existing buildings and verification of provided CAD/PDF drawings. 4. Recommendations for materials based on experience, quality, and price, including non-proprietary equipment and systems. 5. Minor drawing work to assist in hazardous materials bid package development. 6. Survey work as required for project completion. 7. Quality control during design, preconstruction, and construction phases, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and standards.

Period of Performance

The contract is expected to commence upon execution during the week of June 22, 2026, with a tentative design kick-off meeting scheduled for the week of July 6, 2026. The completion of construction documents is targeted for August 24, 2026, with contractor bidding in September 2026 and project closeout expected between December 2026 and January 2027.

Place of Performance

The services will be performed at Anamosa State Penitentiary located at 406 N High St., Anamosa, IA 52205.

Bidder Requirements

Firms must be registered with the Office of the Iowa Secretary of State and have sufficient qualified staff to deliver the required services efficiently within specified timelines. Professional liability insurance in the amount of $2 million is required.
