Background

The Kenton County Airport Board (KCAB) is soliciting proposals for a comprehensive Drone Detection System at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG). The system aims to enhance the airport's ability to detect, track, and mitigate unauthorized drone activities within and around airport premises. The selected vendor will be responsible for the supply, installation, integration, and maintenance of the system.

Work Details

The contractor must provide a Drone Detection System that includes: 1. Detection Capabilities: - Ability to detect various sizes and types of drones, including commercial, hobbyist, and custom-built drones. - Capability to detect drones in adverse weather conditions (rain, fog, snow) with real-time detection and minimal latency. 2. Tracking Capabilities: - Continuous tracking of detected drones including flight path, altitude, speed; ability to track multiple drones simultaneously; creation of custom tracking zones; identification of operator's location. 3. Identification Capabilities: - Identification of drone make and model; integration with FAA remote ID; addition of specific identifiers for future reference; integration with existing databases for known drone threats. 4. System Integration: - Compatibility with standard communication protocols and interfaces. 5. User Interface: - Intuitive interface for monitoring/control; real-time alerts/notifications; customizable dashboard; mobile/tablet-friendly interface; unlimited user access. 6. Data Management: - Secure storage/management of detection data compliant with data protection regulations; capability to generate detailed reports. 7. Standards Compliance: - Compliance with FAA regulations and guidelines for drone detection; equipment must be made in America. Service Requirements include installation, comprehensive training for personnel, ongoing maintenance/support services (including 24/7 technical support), and a minimum 2-year warranty on all components.

The contract is effective from July 20, 2026, until July 19, 2029.

Bidder Requirements

Contractor must be authorized to do business in Kentucky and comply with all present/future laws and regulations. The contractor must provide proof of insurance including commercial general liability insurance with limits not less than $2 million per occurrence (or $10 million if working on aircraft ramps/taxiways/runways). Workers' compensation insurance is also required. Additionally, contractors must submit a copy of their Certificate of Insurance along with their proposal.
