2026-30 Portland Cement Contract

Background

The City of Charleston, WV is soliciting bids for an open-end contract for the purchase and delivery of Sodium Chloride (Roadway Salt) for use by the City’s Street Department. This contract aims to ensure the availability of roadway salt for de-icing purposes, which is critical for public safety during winter weather events.

Work Details

The successful vendor will provide approximately 6,500 tons of Sodium Chloride (Road Salt) during the contract term, with a guaranteed minimum purchase of 5,000 tons. The salt must be delivered to 670 Court Street, Charleston, WV 25301. The salt must meet the specifications of Bulk Coarse HWY LA or equivalent. Orders will be placed on an as-needed basis via Purchase Order or release order. The vendor will be responsible for all delivery arrangements and must deliver within ten (10) business days after issuance of a Purchase Order unless otherwise agreed in writing by the City.

Period of Performance

The initial contract term will be for one (1) year, with potential renewals upon mutual written consent of both the City and the Vendor.

Place of Performance

Deliveries will be made to 670 Court Street, Charleston, WV 25301.

Bidder Requirements

Vendors must comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. They are required to provide proof of Commercial General Liability Insurance and Automobile Liability Insurance in amounts of at least $1,000,000 per occurrence. Vendors must also have a valid West Virginia Contractor’s License and may need to furnish additional licenses or certifications as specified.
