Background

The City of Charleston, WV is soliciting bids for an open-end agreement for the purchase and delivery of Sodium Chloride (Roadway Salt) for use by the City’s Street Department. The purpose of this contract is to ensure a reliable supply of roadway salt for de-icing purposes during winter weather events, which is critical for public safety.

Work Details

The contract includes the following specifications: 1. Estimated Quantity: The City estimates a purchase of approximately 6,500 tons of roadway salt during the contract term, with a guaranteed minimum purchase of 5,000 tons. 2. Delivery Requirements: Road salt must be delivered to 670 Court Street, Charleston, WV 25301. It must be Bulk Coarse HWY LA or an equivalent product. 3. Ordering Process: Road salt will be ordered on an as-needed basis via Purchase Order or release order. The City will only pay for quantities ordered and delivered. 4. Delivery Timeline: All ordered roadway salt must be delivered within ten (10) business days after issuance of a Purchase Order unless otherwise agreed in writing by the City.

Period of Performance

The initial contract term will be for one (1) year with options for renewal upon mutual written consent of both parties, limited to two successive one-year periods.

Delivery will take place at 670 Court Street, Charleston, WV 25301.

Bidder Requirements

Vendors must provide proof of insurance including Commercial General Liability Insurance and Automobile Liability Insurance each in amounts of at least $1,000,000 per occurrence. Vendors must also comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
