Road Salt Contract

Background

The City of Charleston, WV is soliciting quotes for an open-end contract for the purchase and delivery of Sodium Chloride (Roadway Salt) for use by the City’s Street Department. The purpose of this contract is to ensure a reliable supply of roadway salt for de-icing purposes during winter weather events, which is critical for public safety and effective city operations.

Work Details

The contract includes the purchase and delivery of approximately 6,500 tons of Sodium Chloride (Roadway Salt) during the contract term, with a guaranteed minimum purchase of 5,000 tons. Road salt must be Bulk Coarse HWY LA or an equivalent product. Deliveries will be made to 670 Court Street, Charleston, WV 25301 within ten (10) business days after issuance of a Purchase Order or release order. The vendor is responsible for coordinating all logistics related to supply and delivery. All costs associated with shipping, handling, and delivery must be included in the bid price.

Period of Performance

The initial contract term will be for one (1) year with the possibility of two (2) successive one-year renewals upon mutual written consent.

Bidder Requirements

Vendors must provide proof of Commercial General Liability Insurance and Automobile Liability Insurance in amounts not less than $1,000,000 per occurrence. Vendors are also required to comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. No bids will be accepted from vendors whose Business & Occupation Tax status is delinquent.
