202557 Blacktop Restoration

Background

The North Kingstown School Department (NKSD) is issuing Contract 2025-57 for a Blacktop Restoration Project aimed at restoring playground blacktop surfaces at Davisville Academy and NKSD Early Learning Center, located at 50 East Court, North Kingstown, RI. The NKSD may also consider a second site, Fishing Cove Elementary School. This project is part of the department's commitment to maintaining safe and functional playgrounds for students.

Work Details

The contractor will be responsible for the following services: asphalt restoration patching, over-layment of asphalt, crack-filling/crack-sealing, seal-coating, and re-striping of playgrounds. Specific tasks include: - **Asphalt restoration patching:** Neatly saw-cutting perimeters of deteriorated asphalt and replacing it according to industry standards. - **Asphalt over-lay:** Preparing existing pavement, edge-milling at curbs and ramps, leveling as necessary, adjusting for drainage issues, and applying an appropriate binder coat. - **Crack-sealing:** Diamond cutting and removal of damaged asphalt followed by filling and banding with crack sealant per Federal Specifications SS-S-164. - **Seal-coating:** Applying two coats of asphalt coal tar emulsion sealer compliant with industry standards CRS-2 or CRS-2. - **Re-striping:** Using standard Vinyl Acrylic traffic paint after inspection and approval from the District. - **Removal of debris:** All excavated pavement and debris must be removed from the site legally. - **Surface protection:** Protecting the surface seal with necessary flaggers and barricades until set and cured. All work must comply with applicable Federal, State, and Municipal codes.

Period of Performance

The project must be completed on or before August 24, 2026, with work not beginning prior to June 19, 2026.

Place of Performance

Work will be performed at Davisville Academy & NKSD Early Learning Center located at 50 East Court, North Kingstown, RI. There is also potential work at Fishing Cove Elementary School located at 110 Wickford Point Road, North Kingstown, RI.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must be licensed in the state of Rhode Island for all trades included in this RFP. They are required to submit copies of licenses and insurance with their bid offer. Contractors must conform to RI Prevailing Wage Requirements as set forth in RIDLT Municipal Contract Addendum. Additionally, all contractor employees must successfully complete Federal and RI State BCI checks prior to beginning work under this contract.
