Tire Repair and Services

Background

The City of Wichita, the largest city in Kansas with a population of approximately 397,000, is seeking bids for tire repair and services for its Fleet Division. The City aims to maintain its municipal services effectively by ensuring that its vehicles and equipment are operational through timely tire repairs. This contract will support various departments, boards, and agencies within the city, aligning with the city's mission to keep Wichita safe and build dependable infrastructure.

Work Details

The successful vendor will provide tire repair services on an 'as needed' basis for City vehicles and equipment. Services include: - 24/7 availability for tire repairs at job sites or the vendor's location; - Dismounting, repairing, and remounting tires; - Replacing tires when repairs are not feasible; - Maintaining an inventory of spare tires for specific vehicle models (Chevy Tahoe, Dodge Charger, etc.); - Ensuring all repairs are warranted for 30 days; - Adhering to specified response times (60 minutes within city limits). The vendor must also ensure no surcharges for fuel or wait time and provide replacement tires that meet or exceed the quality of those being replaced.

Period of Performance

The contract will be effective for one year with two optional one-year renewals based on mutual agreement. The initial term begins upon contract execution.

Place of Performance

Services will be performed primarily within the City of Wichita and surrounding areas as specified in the solicitation.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must have a minimum of two years' experience in providing similar services, be licensed by the City of Wichita or State of Kansas, comply with all applicable laws, and possess adequate insurance coverage including commercial general liability and automobile liability. Bidders are encouraged to include participation from emerging and disadvantaged businesses.
