Henderson Bridge Improvements - Phase 2

Background

The Henderson Bridge Improvements - Phase 2 project is issued by the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) under Contract No. 2026-CH-016 and Federal Aid Project Nos. BRO-0600(007) & 405-422(235). The project aims to enhance transportation infrastructure in the Cities of Providence and East Providence, focusing on improving connectivity and safety for both vehicles and pedestrians.

Work Details

The project involves several key construction activities: 1. Constructing a new parkway between the Henderson Bridge Phase 1 roundabout and North Broadway. 2. Developing new pedestrian connections. 3. Implementing roadway improvements to Pawtucket Avenue, including an overlay from Warren Avenue to Marietta Street. 4. Specific items include cutting, removing, and disposing of isolated trees and stumps; clearing and grubbing; removing sidewalks; disposing of various types of pipes, guardrails, pavement, drainage structures, fences, signs, conduits, and light standards. Additionally, excavation work will include earth excavation, rock excavation, common borrow, gravel borrow, and management of contaminated soils.

Period of Performance

The contract period is set from May 15, 2026 to June 05, 2026.

Place of Performance

The work will be performed in the Cities of Providence and East Providence, Rhode Island.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must comply with specific insurance requirements including liability coverage of $1 million per occurrence, workers' compensation coverage of $100,000 per accident, automobile liability coverage of $1 million per occurrence, and other specified insurance types as outlined in the solicitation. Additionally, bidders are required to submit a bid bond payable to the State of Rhode Island in the amount of 5% of the total bid.
