Route 1 (Lafayette Road) Sidewalk Curb Ramp Improvement Project

Background

The Town of Hampton, through its Town Manager for the Hampton Department of Public Works (DPW), is soliciting bids for the Route 1 (Lafayette Road) Sidewalk Curb Ramp Improvement Project. This project aims to enhance accessibility by upgrading existing sidewalk curb ramps to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Public Right-of-Way Accessibility Guidelines (PROWAG). The work will occur along approximately one mile of Route 1 between Exeter Road and Lamson Lane in Hampton, NH.

Work Details

The project involves constructing curb ramp improvements that include: concrete ramps, cast iron detectable warning devices, crushed gravel bedding, and adjustments to adjacent curbing and pavement as required. Specific tasks include: - Saw cutting existing concrete sidewalk and asphalt pavement; - Resetting existing granite curb where necessary; - Excavating existing concrete sidewalk to install a new 6-inch concrete sidewalk; - Placing detectable warning devices as per specifications; - Ensuring all work meets ADA & PROWAG compliance; - Maintaining pedestrian access during construction; - Restoring disturbed areas with turf establishment using mulch, tackifiers, and loam within specified timeframes.

Period of Performance

The anticipated schedule for the project is to commence in June 2026 and complete construction by August 2026.

The contract will be performed along Route 1 (Lafayette Road) in Hampton, NH, specifically between Exeter Road and Lamson Lane.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must demonstrate qualifications to perform the work by providing written evidence such as financial data, previous experience, and present commitments. They must also submit two bank references, a list of relevant completed projects, client references, present project commitments with schedules for completion, and a list of proposed subcontractors. Bids must be submitted using original forms authorized from the Issuing Office.
