Background The Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) was established in 1965 to provide habitat for waterfowl and other priority species while creating recreational opportunities for the community. The refuge encompasses approximately 5,300 acres of diverse ecosystems, including floodplain forests and freshwater marshes, and aims to sustain wildlife populations while fostering environmental education and stewardship. The project focuses on enhancing visitor engagement through new interpretive exhibits at the Ridgefield NWR Visitor Center, which is expected to accommodate over 130,000 visitors annually. Work Details The contractor will be responsible for the planning, design, fabrication, and installation of new exhibits at the Ridgefield NWR Visitor Center. Key tasks include: 1. Developing an exhibit concept plan in collaboration with refuge staff. 2. Designing exhibits for a 1,700 square-foot exhibit hall/lobby that are ADA compliant and incorporate low to medium-level technology. 3. Creating accessible displays using tactile maps and audio features. 4. Fabricating durable exhibit elements that fit within a fixed budget. 5. Conducting site visits to familiarize with the habitat and visitor flow. 6. Producing various exhibit components such as wall exhibits, topographic maps, seating areas, murals, and interactive displays. 7. Ensuring all designs meet accessibility standards and are suitable for the intended environment. Period of Performance The contract will be performed from July 1, 2026, to December 31, 2027.
