Unarmed Security Guard Services For Bridgeport Public Library

Background

The City of Bridgeport, the largest city in Connecticut, is seeking proposals for unarmed security guard services for the Bridgeport Public Library. The library's mission is to provide open access to resources and programs that connect communities and promote lifelong learning. The selected contractor will provide security services at the Burroughs-Saden Main Library and five branch locations, ensuring a safe environment for patrons and staff.

Work Details

The contractor will furnish all necessary labor, supervision, uniforms, training, and equipment as per the RFP requirements. Services include: - Providing unarmed, uniformed security personnel at six library locations: - Burroughs-Saden Main Library (75,320 sq. ft.) - North Branch (19,800 sq. ft.) - Black Rock Branch (11,985 sq. ft.) - East Side Branch (12,000 sq. ft., reopening August 2026) - Newfield Branch (15,500 sq. ft.) - Beardsley Branch (7,000 sq. ft.) - Conducting regular patrols of library areas to ensure safety and security. - Enforcing library rules and policies including the 'Smoke Free Campus' policy. - Responding to emergencies and incidents with appropriate action including contacting law enforcement when necessary. - Maintaining a daily field activity report summarizing significant events during shifts.

Period of Performance

The initial term of the contract will be one year starting from July 1, 2026, with two one-year renewal options available for a total potential contract duration of three years.

Services will be performed at multiple locations within Bridgeport, Connecticut: - Burroughs-Saden Main Library at 925 Broad Street; - North Branch at 3455 Madison Avenue; - Black Rock Branch at 2705 Fairfield Avenue; - East Side Branch at 1174 East Main Street; - Newfield Branch at 755 Central Avenue; - Beardsley Branch at 2536 East Main Street.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must have a minimum of five years of experience in providing security guard services and must possess all necessary licenses and permits required by the State of Connecticut. Additionally, bidders must maintain a 24-hour communications capability and provide an outline of their training program for security personnel.
