Background The National Park Service (NPS) is issuing this solicitation for the replacement of an existing rooftop laboratory exhaust blower fan at Padre Island National Seashore. The goal of the contract is to ensure safe operation and compliance with laboratory ventilation standards, which are critical for personnel safety and regulatory compliance. The Division of Sea Turtle Science & Recovery operates a laboratory that requires adequate ventilation for its chemical fume hood, which has been compromised due to the deterioration of the current exhaust fan. Work Details The contractor shall provide all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to safely remove and replace the rooftop exhaust blower fan serving a laboratory chemical fume hood. The installation will be supervised by park staff to adhere to park safety standards. The contractor must furnish and install a new laboratory exhaust fan suitable for chemical fume hood service, preferably a Greenheck CUE-095-VG upblast exhaust fan or an approved alternative that meets industry standards. The replacement fan must be properly sized and configured to achieve required exhaust performance according to ANSI standards. All necessary roof curbs, flashing, sealants, and hardware must be provided and installed by the contractor. Final installation must be fully weatherproof, ensuring no exposure to water damage during construction. Upon completion, the contractor shall inspect the complete fume hood exhaust system, measure and verify fume hood face velocity, adjust airflow as necessary to achieve an average face velocity of approximately 100 feet per minute in accordance with ANSI Z9.5 laboratory ventilation guidance, and perform post-installation testing and certification. A written documentation of airflow measurements, test results, and fume hood certification must be submitted to PAIS for project records.
