Fairview Road - Hot Mix Overlay

Background

Hays County is issuing this Invitation for Bid (IFB) to solicit bids for the removal and replacement of existing pavement on Fairview Road. The project aims to enhance the road's surface through the application of Type B Hot Mix and Superpave Type D Hot Mix Overlay, aligning with the county's commitment to maintaining and improving its transportation infrastructure.

Work Details

The contractor will be responsible for the following tasks: 1. Remove existing 5" pavement and replace it with 5" of Type B Hot Mix; 2. Apply a 2" Superpave Type D Hot Mix Overlay; 3. Perform milling operations to a depth of 5" in designated areas, ensuring smooth transitions at intersections and driveways; 4. Provide necessary traffic control measures including signage and flagger operations; 5. Conduct post-paving cleanup; 6. Ensure all work complies with Texas Department of Transportation specifications, including QA/QC requirements for density and material conformance.

Period of Performance

The contract is expected to be awarded in July 2026, with all work to be completed by September 25, 2026.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must provide a bid bond of 5% of the total bid amount upon submission. They must also furnish performance and payment bonds equal to the contract price within ten days of award notification. Additionally, bidders should not owe any back taxes within Hays County and must provide references from at least three similar projects completed in the last five years.
