Nutty Brown Road - Remove and Replace Hot Mix

Background

Hays County issues this Invitation for Bid (IFB) to solicit bids for the removal and replacement of existing pavement on Nutty Brown Road. The project aims to enhance the road's surface by replacing 5 inches of existing pavement with 5 inches of Type B Hot Mix and applying a 2-inch Superpave Type D Hot Mix Overlay. Work Details

The contractor will be responsible for the following tasks: 1. Milling existing pavement to a depth of 5 inches in designated areas as determined by the Hays County Representative. 2. Performing tie-ins at intersecting roadways, concrete driveways, and bridge decks milled to a depth of 2 inches for smooth transitions. 3. Providing necessary repairs for any damages to utilities during milling operations. 4. Supplying trucking and dumpsite for haul-off materials after milling. 5. Applying a TRAIL tack coat before paving with Superpave Type D mix. 6. Placing and compacting 5 inches of TXDOT Item 341 Type B Hot Mix according to specifications, ensuring that the underlying base is approved by Hays County before placement. 7. Applying a 2-inch overlay of TXDOT Item 344 Superpave D mix after applying tack coat throughout the roadway. 8. Conducting post-paving cleanup and ensuring traffic control measures are in place, including safety signage, flagger operations, and pilot cars as per TxDOT standards.

Period of Performance

The contract is expected to be awarded in July 2026, with all work required to be completed by September 25, 2026.

The work will be performed on Nutty Brown Road in Hays County, Texas.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must provide a bid bond of 5% of the total bid amount at submission, along with performance and payment bonds equal to the contract price within ten days of award notification. Bidders must demonstrate adequate financial resources, satisfactory performance records, proper equipment for fulfilling contract requirements, and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Additionally, bidders must not owe any back taxes within Hays County.
