Shadow Creek, Brandons Way - Remove and Replace Hot Mix

Background

Hays County issues this Invitation for Bid (IFB) to solicit bids for the removal and replacement of existing pavement on Brandons Way, located in the Shadow Creek Subdivision. The goal of this contract is to enhance road safety and infrastructure by replacing the current 6-inch pavement with a new 4-inch Type B Hot Mix and a 2-inch Type D Hot Mix Overlay.

Work Details

The contractor will perform the following tasks: 1. Remove existing pavement to a depth of 6 inches. 2. Replace with 4 inches of Type B Hot Mix (3,341 square yards). 3. Apply a 2-inch Type D Hot Mix Overlay (3,341 square yards) with a TRAIL tack coat prior to overlay application. 4. Ensure all milling operations are conducted safely, including utility locates and repairs as necessary. 5. Provide trucking and disposal for removed materials. 6. Conduct post-paving cleanup and ensure traffic control measures are in place according to TxDOT standards.

Period of Performance

The contract is expected to be awarded in July 2026, with all work to be completed by September 25, 2026.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must provide a bid bond of 5% of the total bid amount at submission. They must also furnish performance and payment bonds within ten days of contract award, each equal to the contract price. Bidders should have no outstanding debts to Hays County and must demonstrate adequate financial resources and experience in similar projects.
