Background The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is seeking to renew a service contract with LEEDS Precision Instruments, Inc. for the maintenance and calibration of microscopes used in forensic laboratory analysis. LEEDS Precision Instruments, Inc. specializes in designing, manufacturing, and selling high-quality comparison and imaging systems and microscopes for forensic laboratories. They have a strong reputation for exceptional customer service and have been certified by Perry Johnson Laboratory Accreditation, Inc., meeting ISO/IEC 17025 requirements necessary for continued FBI laboratory accreditation. The previous contract with LEEDS has expired, prompting the FBI to pursue this sole-source award to ensure continuity in services critical to their mission. Work Details The contractor shall provide all personnel, equipment, supplies, transportation, tools, materials, supervision, and other items necessary to perform quality repair, preventative maintenance, and service of fifty-four (54) comparison, stereo, and compound microscopes. Specific services include: - Regular annual maintenance as required by accreditation standards. - Minor repairs as needed. - Fine focus lubrication. - Condenser lubrication. - Stage adjustments and alignment checks. - Calibration and recertification of magnification match between right and left images for LCF Firearms and Toolmark Comparison Microscopes. - Maintenance of LCD single axis measuring scale, measuring reticule, and imaging software. Period of Performance The performance period is set until June 9, 2026. Place of Performance The services will be performed at the FBI’s Laboratory located on the Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama.
