DOT/MARAD has a requirement for The United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) for a New York licensed contractor to remove three (3) steel underground storage tanks (UST) that contain No. 2 Fuel Oil. Two (2) 20,000 and one (1) 10,000 gallons tanks in accordance with all Federal, State and local laws and regulations. Permanently remove from service and seal associated piping from the tanks to the equipment they serve and remove all wiring and components associated with the operation and monitoring of the tanks. These tanks are located on the southern side of Delano Hall and eastern side of O'Hara at United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), 300 Steamboat Rod, Kings Point, NY 11024. This project aims to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations while preserving the historical integrity of the site, which is part of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy National Historic District. Work Details The contractor will be responsible for: 1. Removing three steel underground storage tanks (two 20,000 gallons and one 10,000 gallons) located at Delano Hall and O'Hara Hall. 2. Permanently sealing associated piping from the tanks to the equipment they serve and removing all wiring and components related to their operation and monitoring. 3. Ensuring all work complies with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. 4. Coordinating all work with USMMA's Department of Public Works and Environmental Protection Specialist. 5. Completing all work in accordance with federal, state, county, and local regulations, including obtaining necessary permits and inspections. 6. Conducting soil testing before tank removal to check for hazardous materials and providing documentation of findings. 7. Pumping out remaining fuel oil from tanks into temporary storage or reselling it if not suitable for reuse by Kings Pointer, with a minimum of three bids provided prior to sale. 8. Cleaning tanks to a 'safe for hot work' status before dismantling them, ensuring no contamination occurs during removal processes. Period of Performance The contract will commence upon award by USMMA and is expected to be completed within 60 days thereafter. Place of Performance The work will be performed at Delano Hall and O'Hara Hall, located at 300 Steamboat Road, Kings Point, NY 11024.
